In the small town of Lortmil in the north eastern Sillene province sits the Cross farm.
The daughter of a small town farming family, Averixx was the youngest of twelve siblings.
Like her brothers and sisters she was expected to work the family farm and help with chores
of the various sorts. Although Averixx was a natural at growing things and animal tending,
she did strive and have a dreamer’s heart and wanted more. So this went on for 13 years of
her life. It wasn’t until a border skirmish with a barbarian tribe from the nearby Lortmil
mountains did she discover just how much her heart desired more than toiling and plowing on
the family farm. During the raid she found she quite enjoyed the battle. Although not
allowed to participate, she marveled at the flashes of the mages destructive spells that had
come from the capital to defend the outer townships. Although they were minor spells she
never forgot the sight. At 18 she had saved enough money to travel to the major city Unity.
She had thought of how much she wanted to learn more about the mystery of magic and the idea
of using those spells in battle sent chills through her.
She found herself a mage willing to apprentice her and she agreed eagerly to work in his keep
and learn all she could so that in a few years she would be prepped and ready to go to finishing
school for war mages. It was a very difficult apprenticeship. The mage was gone quite often
and left her alone to toil scrubbing floors and polishing book cases. Barely teaching her
anything except how to clean and she was all too familiar with that ritual from years of working
on the farm. After 3 years of this and learning so little, she decided she was being used and made
off with a beginning spell book and slipped out in the middle of the night.
She came to the University of Magic, a highly prestige driven school. After being denied
repeatedly by different departments she was beginning to lose hope. It was then that a kindly
old mage, named Lerven Arcvich directed her to the Warmage College. This college unlike all
the others was devoted to the intense study of destructive spells. Many shunned it as being
devoted to the sole practice of destroying people and edifices in the intense throws of combat.
The Mage Council had allotted generous funds to the development of this particular spell casting
branch as many times mages devoted to spell warfare was called upon. She felt as though she had
come home. The school’s intense discipline was akin to the skills she learned growing things
as meticulous patience and effort is required. She enjoyed the awesome destructiveness that
the spells she was learning brought and she cherished the battle with other students. She
studied hard and after seven years had accumulated enough knowledge to leave the school as a
very talented young warmage.
She had a love interest during the last year of her schooling, a young man who was also an
accomplished warmage. They spent several years traveling together and were married. After
a time they worked so well together that the Mage Council often sent the team on missions
together to bring a swift end to conflicts. It was during one of the conflicts that her
husband fell prey to a wizard spell that caused him to vanish in a vortex of swirling energy.
In anger at the loss of her husband Averixx struck the wizard down in a sheet of magic energy
from her husband’s staff. Fitting justice for the man that stole her love from her, now she
makes her way in the world as an agent against what ever stands in the way of her desires and
her path to reach for destructive forces that shape the course of her destiny.
So it continues….
