House History:

The house Olg-loth was established in its current form 140 standard years ago. In the comparative time span of houses, this has been a short history. The house was founded originally under the Matron Mother Houn Olg-loth. Her reign produced three children from the same consort, Vlon-klyr, which this in and of itself unusual given the precarious nature of consorts. The house though founded by a loyal priestess of Loth had been seeded with dissident ideas from the very consorts and underlings it depended on for its survival. 40 standard years after the house was founded, Houn uncovered a plot by long her long time consort to worship other deities, an action unforgivable by Loth. He had secretly hid his high affiliation with high worshiping courts of these deities. When he was discovered he had barricaded himself in the nursery, to take the lives of the children born unto them, sparing them the treacherous life under the gaze of Loth’s wicked eyes. His plan was to use a secret binding spell of unknown but powerful origins, to terminate forever the children’s ability to be influenced by the power of Loth’s energies, so they would never rise to power in her corrupt society. The spell had such powerful energies that it needed great concentration to use and complete. Near the end of the spell, Houn arrived and with a death ray wand struck him dead. The resulting not fully complete spell energy cascade flowed over the 3 children. While no visible effect to the children was perceived, the effects of that spell was to be unknown as the only person to fully know its purpose now lay dead at Houn’s feet.

Houn, being a faithful priestess, took this as a sign that Loth had granted the children power over death and delivered them safely to a future of service. After all she was more concerned with the preservation of her house through the death of the traitor and saving her future heirs than concern for the children’s actual well being. Another 20 years passed, the children grew and bloodshed was a daily event as one servant after another fell to tortures as the depth of Vlon’s treachery were probed and uncovered. The three daughters grew and entered the priesthood. It seemed that none suffered from the effects of the spell that went wrong so many years before.

The daughters grew up, entered the clergy of Loth as their mother had, each taking consorts of their own. The marriages produced unremarkable children, until the day the twin daughters of Tri-li were born. As these two children grew it was obvious both had a very high aptitude for channeling of divine energies even from a young age. The priestesses of Loth, including Houn were pleased but secretly worried that their own power might be in jeopardy with such natural aptitude. Upon the twins reaching adulthood, they were both very much rivals, Ak-arra-esril, was cruel in the applications of her ever growing energy. She seemed to be filled with limitless ambition and dark twisted nature that pushed even the limits of drow society. Ryl-irin, like her sister were granted the divine energies of Loth, but her sister seemed different. She had a calm, almost passive nature that contradicted with the power that was beginning to bristle in her veins. She also was plagued with deep visions and maddening dreams which the priestesses interpreted as premonitions or warnings from Loth. The most disturbing thing about her is that she seems to channel the divine energies similar to the arcane power of a sorcerer as she is always awake with the power of Loth as is her sister. It was clear to many that Loth favored the twins greatly. This fear caused them to send the twins to the house in Menzoberranzan were house specialist clergy could watch them closely, and with enough distance to keep the young cleric women under control and out of her way.

On the way to Menzoberranzan, the caravan the twins were traveling with were attacked by a raiding party of mind flayers and in the commotion Ryl-irin was separated from her sister and the party. While escaping she was pursued and attacked by a mind flayer who used a some sort of psychic blast that triggered a mind wrenching pain and vision. When she awoke, she found herself in a cavern alone in the dark except for the nearby starlight from the surface world cave she now lay in. She found her mind was somewhat sketchy and could only remember bits and pieces of things but could not clearly remember where she was from; almost like portions of her memory had been erased or blocked. The current status is that Ryl-irin has wondered into the shallows of the underdark in search of answers to her past and with the help of a kindly duergar exile is beginning to discover there is a lot more to her than her memory tells….so the story continues……
